Job Summary

The role is to manage aspects of the project’s financial reporting, budgeting, support in auditing, and compliance that relate to GISCOR, in line with donor’s procedures and policies. To support GISCOR in financial capacity building through training and support. To improve the capacity of project staff to understand the donors’ financial policies and procedures.  

Duties and Responsibilities  

  

The Finance Officer will undertake the following tasks:  

    •   Maintain and update financial records, including ledgers, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and financial statements.
    • Oversee daily financial transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
    • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
    • Manage the organization’s budget, including forecasting, monitoring, and reporting on budget variances.
    • Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
    • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
    • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and timely filing of tax returns.
    • Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard the organization’s assets and ensure financial integrity.
    • Assist in the development of financial strategies to support the organization’s goals and objectives.
    • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvement.
    • Provide financial insights and recommendations to management for decision-making.
    • Manage relationships with vendors, ensuring timely payment and accurate record-keeping.
    • Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with labor laws and organizational policies.
    • Monitor and process employee expense reports and reimbursements.
    • Work closely with other departments to ensure alignment of financial practices with organizational objectives.
    • Provide financial training and support to non-finance staff as needed.

Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. A professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent is preferred.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in finance, accounting, or a related role.
    • Proven experience in financial management, budgeting, and reporting.
    • Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Skills:

Main Responsibilities

  • Oversee the recruitment process, including job postings, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and conducting reference checks.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Professional certification in HR (e.g., CIPM, SHRM) is an added advantage.

  • Experience with HR software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Job Summary

  • Overseeing recruitment, appointments and administrative formalities concerning staffs and facilitate the recruitment process in the assigned location.

  • Conducting performance management and employee evaluation

Working Relationships:

  • Maintain frequent communication with Admin/HR Officer and Finance Officer to ensure activities and objectives are communicated

Security:

Experience:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree/HND in Human Resources, Business Management or any related field with NYSC Discharged Certificate. Professional certification in Humanitarian Context more especially Protection Sector is an additional advantage.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years experience in the humanitarian sector
  • Experience in working with computer more especially Microsoft Office Tools.
  • Experienced work in deep field locations of Northwestern Nigeria.
  • Ability to carry-out responsibilities independently with minimal technical support from within the organization.
  • Candidates who are natives of the area or have been residents for over 2 years are preferred.

Position: Protection Manager x 1

Protection Manager

The Protection manager oversees the implementation of Protection activities in Sokoto, Katsina and Zamfara and contributes to building capacity.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate, plan and monitor protection project activities ensuring adherence to sector, donor and internal requirements and guidelines
  • Ensure the highest quality of the sectoral interventions including adherence to best practice protection programming and minimum standards in coordination with the Protection Technical Coordinator
  • Ensure coherence between all projects, ongoing and proposed, according to the overall protection strategy and taking into account remote monitoring modalities
  • Take leadership of protection projects in terms of ensuring high quality and timely deliverables, narrative reporting and financial overviews, close cooperation with donors, Government counterparts and coordination mechanisms on site, and in synergy with other GISCOR interventions in the area.
  • Formalize and develop project related operational tools and training modules, with support from the Project Coordinator
  • Provide input for monthly, quarterly, interim and annual donor reports, project proposals as well as ad hoc reports and communication items, as requested
  • Provide overall budget monitoring, financial management and expenses control for the project activities, including compliance with minimum GISCOR and donor requirements

Program Development, Strategy and External Relations

  • Representation of GISCOR and active participation in protection sector meetings and relevant sub sectors/working groups
  • Oversee knowledge sharing across teams and ensure that monitoring and evaluation results are understood and used to improve programs
  • Drive the development and growth of the relevant programs within the GISCOR program objectives, including proposal development, and feed into country-wide strategy development
  • Ensure adaptiveness of programming with the ongoing emergency response, in coordination with and supported by Project Coordinator
  • Ensure cooperation and integration with other GISCOR sectors of intervention, particularly GBV, Child Protection, WASH, Nutrition and Livelihood, through working with the other project managers and team leaders, including guide on mainstreaming of protection considerations within other sectoral interventions

Team Management:

  • Lead and manage GISCOR’s protection team including mentoring, ensuring coordination, recruitment and capacity development
  • Provide on the job training as required and adapt trainings/coaching to specific staff needs

As a manager the post-holder is responsible for the following:

  • Accountable for achieving GISCOR’s strategic goals and objectives within the area of responsibility
  • Accountable for making significant decisions on what the unit does: its purpose, functions and role, and for making commitments and decisions that require the expenditure of significant unit resources.
  • Accountable for people management of direct reports. This includes hiring & firing, objective setting, probation, performance appraisal, development of staff, managing performance, including poor performance, etc.
  • Accountable for making sound decisions based on GISCOR policies/Manuals, standards, and the advice of technical experts in GISCOR

Experience and technical competencies:

  • Master’s degree desirable. Or Undergraduate degree in (e.g., humanitarian programming, international development, human rights, Law, Sociology, gender studies) required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in NGO projects, particularly in managing/leading protection projects.
  • At least 5 years’ experience with people management
  • Demonstrated practical experience in protection work including case management, prevention activities and community engagement
  • Experience in producing high-quality technical material (training material, programme tools, proposals, strategic documents etc.)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for external audiences (including governments and donors)
  • Experience working in conflict contexts or humanitarian response

GBV Manager

The Gender Based Violence (GBV) manager oversees the implementation of GBV prevention and response activities, and contributes to building capacity and promote GISCOR’s  Values  across all program implementations.

Position: Protection Officer x 1

Job Summary

The protection officer is to lead efforts in GISCOR’s General Protection Activities and Response, working directly with the Sub-office. The protection officer ensures quality prevention and response implementation and good coordination in line with project agreement.

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • In collaboration with the protection team (Protection Filed Coordinator, Protection Monitor and Protection Action Group Member) and local actors, provide technical leadership related to implementation of the Protection program
  • Create and follow work plans and spending plans to ensure timely and quality implementation of the work plan in coordination with field teams
  • Collaborate closely with other staffs, partners, government, and other NGO staffs to promote the services needed by PoCs e.g. clinical care for SGBV, education etc.
  • Ensure safe and ethical data collection, storage, analysis, and sharing through the appropriate channel, using standard forms and database and monitoring adherence to inter-agency information sharing protocols
  • Design and support monitoring and evaluation for project activities, provide technical guidance for surveys and rapid assessments and conduct field monitoring missions;
  • Lead the documentation of project methodologies, lessons learned, and gather case studies;
  • Prepare project status reports required for management
  • Actively participate in Protection Sector Working Group through sharing of information, lessons learned, tools and methodologies;
  • Support GISCOR Protection Unit project development processes;
  • Perform other related duties as required by the Management
  • Implement evidence-informed, community-based protection mitigation and risk reduction strategies, including evidence-based community mobilization strategies, community-based protection mechanisms, economic and educational opportunities (where applicable), and protection and gender mainstreaming
  • Analyse quantitative and qualitative data on a daily/weekly/monthly basis to identify and monitor gaps, needs, and potential solutions
  • Facilitate workshops and staff meetings for the protection team to ensure project programming meets best practice standards and prioritizes the safety and security of beneficiaries and staff
  • Participate in the recruitment of Protection Team staffs
  • Create staff development plans in collaboration with staff
  • Monitor and provide objective feedback related to staff performance, including completing staff performance evaluations to promote growth and professional development
  • Supervise case management staff to ensure client-centred case management in line with the project guidelines through one-on-one supervision, case consultations, observational exercises, and other regular mentoring and debriefing exercises
  • Debrief with prevention and awareness raising staff at least ones per month to assess community mobilization and communication skills and topics of focus
  • Support the Protection Field Coordinator to Co-lead the Protection Working Group in other areas of operations and maintain strong working relationships with all stakeholders – including women’s groups, community leaders, government stakeholders, NGOs, UN agencies, and CBOs to enhance multi-agency and multi-sectoral cooperation and coordination
  • Assist in building strong working relationships with relevant Government Ministries to address women’s issues and GBV appropriately in national policies, laws and guidelines
  • Explore potential formal partnerships with local women’s groups, national NGOs, and government social workers to strengthen their technical and organizational capacity.

Requirements:

  • Degree in social sciences, international relations, human rights, Law, or a related field.
  • Significant experience (usually at least 3 years) in protection and humanitarian work, including experience in a leadership or coordination role.
  • Strong knowledge of international humanitarian law, human rights principles, and protection standards.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in complex and challenging environments.

Job Summary

  • The GBV Officer will work under the direct supervision of the GBV Manager and will oversee the day-to-day implementation of program activities in assigned Location

Job summary

  • The information management officer will primarily be responsible for ensuring all program data is accurately and ethically collected, stored, analysed & shared in strict adherence to the GISCOR data protection policy and guidelines. The holder of this position will be responsible for data collection, data entry, data analysis and reporting aspects of the GISCOR program activities to inform better program interventions. The incumbent will work closely with the GBV caseworkers and officers, M & E as well as the protection team to make sure data is always updated and accurate.

Major Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide support in ensuring that targets are met under GISCOR’s agreement with donors, in order to be accountable to the stated goals of the programme.

Position Summary

The Psychosocial Support (PSS) officer will provide support for survivors throughout the project lifespan. He/she will be in constant contact with the survivors and working in assigned, He/she will support and strengthen survivors, ensure continuous reporting of their accompaniments to, and with survivors for referrals. He/she will also contribute to the participation of the survivors in the IRM process.

Responsibilities:

  • Support survivors in their journey back to mental, physical, economic, and social health by developing a framework of continuous trust with survivors.
  • Be survivor-focused, always available to talk with survivors at their request, either through individual consultations or in focus groups, and always ensuring all actions are in the best interests of, and for the protection of survivors.
  • Inform and guide survivors and be a source of advice for any challenges on implementing interim reparations measures either from the survivors, or from others, including their community or family in the intervention areas. This is to be done by being an active, empathetic, and professional listener.
  • Constantly follow-up on survivor’s participation in the project implementation and rigorously accompany the survivor to take advantage of the transformative agenda of the project.
  • Conduct daily home visits for updates and interviews, if needed with the family, and for psychological follow-up of survivors.

As part of GISCOR’s gender-based violence (GBV) prevention and response program, the Social Worker will work to increase the community’s understanding of GBV (including its causes and consequences) and to engage men, women, boys and girls in developing their own strategies to prevent violence and create safer, healthier communities. The Social Worker will also contribute to the weekly and monthly reporting of the Prevention component implemented in the location.

This position reports directly to the GBV Officer.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the GBV social worker include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Program Development and Implementation:
  • With support from the GBV officer, and in collaboration with GBV community volunteers, conduct quarterly safety audits.
  • Participate in community asset mapping, training of GBV volunteers, and the development of communication materials and advocacy strategies as part of the broader prevention program strategies.
  • Support GBV Community Volunteers in developing and implementing weekly plans to prevent violence against women and girls in their communities.

Job Overview

The Child Protection case worker will be responsible for providing social services ensuring in line with key child protection principles including best interests of the child, confidentiality, non-discriminatory, do no harm and child participation. The case worker will work closely with children involved in worst forms of child labour, and at-risk children, at high risk of harm providing case management services in line with GISCOR’s Standard Operating procedures /Humanitarian Principles, She/He will be an advocate for children; ensuring children’s needs are at the core of service provision with children’s participation solicited at every stage of the process. This will include conducting outreach in order to reach children who otherwise would not have access to services.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify cases of siblings of street, out of school, at risk of working children at, and/or children working in other forms of labour at high risk of harm;
  • Provide case management services in line with the National Standard Operating Procedures for case management & Global Child Protection Case Management Guidelines;
  • Conduct outreach to assess and provide support to the child during house visits, consistently conduct outreach and follow up on any gap identified which could be hazard to child.
  • The case worker will be independent, responsible and ensuring case actions plans and relevant administrative forms that facilitate accountability & planning are updated on a daily and weekly basis;
  • The case worker will commit to maintaining excellent documentation of case management files in line with the National Sop’s, BID and other relevant processes;
  • The case worker will assume full responsibility to assess the level of risk that a child is exposed to, and immediately report any cases that could evolve into high-risk cases to the direct line Manager (Case management supervisor)
  • Persist to conduct mapping of services to ascertain which services are included in specific areas, and striving to facilitate access to services for the child and their family even if the process requires thinking outside of the box, advocating to management, working groups, national entities and relevant authorities to facilitate.
  • Participate actively in weekly case management team meeting remaining open to feedback and self-reflection;
  • Demonstrate qualities including honesty, kindness, professionalism, non-discrimination, and a commitment to working well in a team whilst staying true to oneself;
  • Maintain pro-active communication with all relevant internal and external units; Psychosocial team (as a child maybe referred), apprenticeship (those engaged with skill acquisition through master trainers) within child labour and capacity strengthening teams (Community mater trainers) to highlight challenges, propose solutions and monitor trends which could indicate negative or positive implications for children and their families.
  • Ensure full responsibility & accountability –for maintaining, drafting and updating reports which include case management reports.
  • Draft reports-internal case management report, resettlement referrals (high priority);
  • Be proactive in identifying opportunities to better support children through facilitating processes.
  • Assist the FTR team to facilitate reunification of UASC.
  • Conduct case conference for a complicated case.

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Educated to university level (First degree or HND preferably in social science, psychology, Sociology, Human right, Law or a related Field)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in related position
  • English languages required;
  • Preferably resident of the targeted location or can speak the local language (Hauwa or Fulani)
  • Demonstrated commitment to helping others.
  • Demonstrated discretion and good judgment
  • Experience working with survivors of GBV an asset
  • Previous training/experience in Child protection programming an asset
  • A resident of the location is a plus
  • Demonstrated understanding of working with children and particularly vulnerable children
  • Personal qualities: Team player, flexible, network-builder, able to handle pressure well and work in cross-cultural setting.
  • Candidates who are natives of the area or have been residents for over 2 years are preferred, as the position is community-based and can speak the local language (Hausa, Fulani)

Job Summary

As part of GISCOR’s gender-based violence (GBV) prevention and response program, the Child protection Social Worker will work to increase the community’s understanding of GBV (including its causes and consequences) and to engage men, women, boys and girls in developing their own strategies to prevent violence and create safer, healthier communities. The Social Worker will also contribute to the weekly and monthly reporting of the Prevention component implemented in the location.

This position reports directly to the Child Protection Officer.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the Child protection social worker include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Program Development and Implementation:
  • With support from the Child protection officer and GBV Officer, in collaboration with GBV community volunteers, conduct quarterly safety audits.
  • Participate in community asset mapping, training of GBV volunteers, and the development of communication materials and advocacy strategies as part of the broader prevention program strategies.
  • Support Community Volunteers in developing and implementing weekly plans to prevent violence against women and girls in their communities.
  • Work with the Community Volunteers to disseminate information about the available services for survivors of GBV (Case Management and Medical Services) as well as group activities at WGFS for women and girls.
  • Identify and refer vulnerable Children Boys and girls to access services and material support at the WGFS in accordance with their level of vulnerability and needs.
  • In collaboration with the GBV Case Workers, facilitate awareness raising in the community.
  • Support other prevention and awareness activities as needed, including, 16 Days of Activism and Children Day Celebrations.
